Dream: Big Apple

Tuesday, September 20, 2011

Not too sure if you guys are following my updates in facebook, but yesterday I had a funny dream while i was taking a nap in my hostel room. The dream was about me sleeping in my hostel room and I was awakened when my ex-roommate, Meng returned. He was holding a box of Big Apple doughnuts that he made! I don't really know what's the occasion but he asked if i would finish them (I assume he made them for his gf but they couldn't finish them). I wonder I am having some craving for doughnuts or I actually miss my ex-roommate LOL... Perhaps both but this semester will the last semester I will be in UPM. In fact, so far for the past week here I have met plenty of cute guys. Out of the 4 years here, this year is the most! Not just cute locals, but good looking middle eastern guys as well as twinky Thai boys. OMGosh!

Just this morning, there was an adorable nerdy chinese 1st year who came up to me to ask for directions as well as recommendation on where to have meals.  He followed me around as I show him the way. He then asked me where I would go next. Too bad I wasn't feeling well or else I would have had brunch with him. Hehehe... The thing is, I was already eye-ing on him since we took the same bus.

Slippery Anniversary + Yen Shabu Shabu

Saturday, December 18, 2010

Shoe size 43. What a slippery experience. My first time ice-skating. OMG. I fell a few times. So damn embarrassing. Dardar legs were hurting so he didn't skate. Took me about 20minutes to get rid of the fear of falling. Quite similar to swimming, just need to eliminate the fear of drowning and voila! I managed to skate slowly without support rounding and rounding the ring (so proud of myself LOL)! I have been to Sunway Pyramid a few times and I always notice cuties or lengzai skating there. The thing is, they are not just there for looks. They can really skate. They glide here and there, so pro... a couple times they just chill in front of me XD... So wasted, there was once I fell and got one cute guy wanna help me get up but I was too shy so I got up on my own. Haiz... should have taken the opportunity. hehehe... anniversary

Then we had our dinner @ Yen Shabu Shabu in Menjalara. Their pork slice and mutton slice were really good. They have free flow of drinks(my fav iced lemon tea) and not so common ice-cream selection (tiramisu, durian, grape). Their sauce are good too, especially the chicken rice chili sauce, tomyam sauce and sweet sour chili sauce. On mondays to thursdays they have special dish called Sha-Tien gai. A must try if you are there on any of those days. Their pumpkin puff side dish is also worth trying!

When two become one

Monday, October 18, 2010

Have you guys ever seen 2 bananas in 1 peel? I took this picture from the UPM convo bazaar. It's not a production of photoshop. People comes in pairs. Some animals too. We were taught in school that a couple should consist of male and female. But I guess this picture somehow proves that 2 gays bananas can really be together. But then again, I wonder if I might see 3 happily together.

Shangri-La Hotel Lunch Buffet @ Wedding

Tuesday, September 14, 2010

My coursemate think I look like korean. WTF!

Wedding lunch buffet of my cousin sister was held at the Shangri-la hotel in Kuala Lumpur. Food was amazing. They have many corners to choose from. Whether indian, chinese, japanese or western. They also have dimsum, pastries, cakes(tiramisu, strawberry cheese, chocolate, etc.), crepe, brownies, mousse, chocolate fountain with our choice of marshmellow and fruits. They also have an assortment of cheese! Be it brie, gorgonzola, gouda and many that I have never heard of. Choice of soup includes the sharkfin soup and seafood soup(chunks of shrimps, scallops and fish). Their smoked items were really good, I tried the salmon, duck and some other fish. The most awesome part was their prawns! They totally own it! The prawns were XXL size! If you guys go Yuen Steamboat buffet, just imagine the prawn to be at least 3 times the size of it. Grilled mutton was really good too... Too bad I had no pictures to show. Left my handphone at dardar's home. But did managed to camwhore with sis. Heard from my mum the buffet was RM120 per pax.

When we arrived at the hotel, I was not amazed by the interior design. Why? My eye was busy kapzai. LOL! There was this tanned chinese guy that caught my attention from the minute I walked into the lobby. I was thinking, "Shit! hopefully he goes to the same wedding buffet as we are..." Seconds later, mum was talking to his mother! She then asked me to go over and greet the old lady. Then mum said "This is your kindergarten classmate". I was like WTF! Where have you been to all this years?!!! Throughout the whole day I kept stealing glances at him whenever I went to take food. I am not all too sad either. I saw him looking at me too most of the time when I try to look at him. If you wonder how he looks like, see the picture just above. That's not him, just someone that resembles alot like him.

I think my aunt is really modern. She doesn't follow the old traditions for a chinese wedding. Simple and satisfying.

Xenri Japanese Buffet

Friday, May 28, 2010

It was 23rd of May (means my birthday... understand~lah) when dardar and I left the house for KL. It was one of the other surprise that dardar secretly planned. This one was well kept, but I did guess what it was gonna be. This was an easy guess coz we have been talking about it ever since we were together. LOL! I have a pretty good nose for whatever my dardar plans to do. hehehe... Anyway, we headed for Menara Hap Seng. The place was awfully quiet. Not much people around. Lucky day for us I guess, we were served with some man-beef to fill our eyes first. A gwai lou though, I am sure many of my blog readers won't really know how to appreciate it. Hahaha!

Xenri only opens at 11.30 for the Japanese lunch buffet! As we entered, we were greeted by all the staff there. Everyone was gleaming with a smile. I was partially shocked with the interior design. Quite nice I would say. We savoured almost everything they had to offer. Well, all except for those cheap fruits & sushi. My 1st time trying raw oysters and it was disastrous. I almost puke the 1st time it went in. Urgh... Maybe it's not yet the time for me to enjoy such delicacy. As for what I have eaten I will leave it to the pictures to do the talk. The food is good, but may not really be all that good for the body.

Too many pictures... Maybe I will post them in facebook-lah~

Soon Soon Lye Salmon Noodle Review

Thursday, May 20, 2010

Last nights dinner was at this outlet in Puchong. Dardar and Bear had always passed by this restaurant whenever we stop by at the vegetarian for dinner. We ordered the salmon fish head noodle & salmon neck and belly noodle. The price range is within RM7.50 to RM17.00. Affordable. This restaurant was also featured by 988 radio channel. Should be quite popular at least among the locals in Puchong. According to the bear's taste buds, nice to eat and just one thumbs up. Why? The taste is okay, but nothing to shout about. But perhaps it's because we ordered 2 of the most economical dish available. LOL! Anyway, it is HIGHLY recommended that if you somehow wanna try it out, order anything but the salmon fish head noodle. Don't be fooled by the Chef's recommendation by the side of the menu. Avoid them at all costs!!! Overall the food is not bad but just nothing amazing. Can give a go but I don't think you will be back for more.

Pinking at the Mamak

Monday, May 3, 2010

The bear and salmon was pretty hungry last night. They went on a mamak session nearby salmon's house only to encounter an old man wearing the exact same shirt as the salmon. What a pink day! The salmon seems to be bumping into many people that wears the same shirt as his nowadays. Popular? More like getting normal these days. But the bear could really imagine what it must have felt to be wearing the same shirt as an uncle at a mamak stall. Must be HORRIBLE! Imagine yourself sitting nearby an uncle that is nearing his 50's and he wore the exact same shirt as you! Ugh...

Having that said, the bear had one of the best roti ever. The roti Bom was really good. Unlike the conventional roti Bom that bear normally had, this one has a normal roti canai as the base and a sweet crispy layer of the sweet stuff on top of it. As for the Cham Ice, the strong tea taste is just remarkable. It's way better than most mamak that serves Teh Ais that is just sweet and you could hardly taste the tea.

Kai Zen Japanese Lunch Set

Friday, April 16, 2010

So the bear was up for some Japanese food for lunch yesterday. Kai Zen Restaurant is located in Puchong, some where near dardar's home in Bandar Puteri. Lets start with the deco of the restaurant. The design is abit too 'modern' as the sofas were white and the lights were 'western-ish'. Bear would prefer the deco to be more traditional with sushi table and tatami mat. Anyhow, the restaurant is cozy and comfortable. The service ain't bad either but bear would be happier havin' more men around if you know what bear mean =p

The bear ordered set 3 that consist of a bowl of spicy soup ramen, 3 pieces of sushi, watermelon slice and a plate of tuna mayo.

As for the sushi, the fish slice was really thick and well made. You could just feel every inch of the meat in your mouth. The fish slice also sticks to the rice. As some of you may know, the proper method of dipping sushi into the sauce and wasabi is not to dip the rice into the sauce. This wouldn't be a problem if you were using your hands to take the sushi. The real problem is when using chopsticks as the fish slice tends to fall off. Bear's previous visit to Sushi King was disastrous. The salmon slice as well as other toppings fell off the rice instantly like they were never meant to be together. This isn't the case with Kai Zen's sushi. Thumbs up for the sushi!

If bear is not wrong, the tuna mayo is made from fresh fish or at least they don't use the canned ones. Canned tunas has this strong odour that is not really pleasing and that was not present in the tuna mayo that bear had. The dish would be better if the bones were removed thoroughly from the dish.

Then we have the spicy soup ramen. For starters, it ain't really that spicy. Just spicy enough. Bear reckon that most folks will be able to tolerate it. You know how noodle tend to stick and stay the same shape after long storage? The noodles were tangy and didn't have that feel sticky feeling. They also include a wide variety of vegetables in the dish mostly those with a more crunchy texture. For those that really cant stand spicy food may choose other lunch set as they have non spicy ones too. The pricing is affordable given the portion and taste of the food. The set lunch are only RM8.50++ non inclusive of the tax. Worth every penny!

Pre-Valentines Celebration

Thursday, February 18, 2010

Feb 11 night, dardar and I watched Percy Jackson and the Lightning thief at IOI mall. Honestly, I think it was just okay okay lah~ But the GSC in in IOI mall is really nice. Not many people. Huge space for the legs.

Feb 12 morning, P and I headed up to Genting. Needless to say, most couples would go for the rides and we were no exception. After a short lunch break, we head for the theme park. I officially ban the ship ride! Almost vomited my lunch from that single ride. The others were okay. As we were queuing up for the rides, there was so much to laugh about because so many things happened.

We imitated the Hong Kong cantonese accent when we saw 2 kids speaking to their mum cos Mr.P pointed out their accent. Then we saw a lady in a very tight T. She forgot her bra? Her nipples were pointing out and it was SO obvious. Then I looked at dardar, seducing him by happily fondling my nipples and told him,"My nipples are pointy too". LOL!

While waiting in line, a group of teens camwhored like crazy. One of them was super gay! They hugged and leaned on each other like they were magnets. Me being 38, took dardar's arm and laid my head on his shoulder :p

Upon entering Starbucks, I was greeted by 3 of the staffs there. Me being one with the HUGE 'appetite' went for the cute chinese guy to ask him of their operating hours. It is natural okay!

Lengzais are roaming the highlands. The bear is on the lose?! Saw quite a handful of gay couples at the theme park too. There was one pair that caught my attention most. A twink with his beefy boyfriend.

Early dinner was at Vietnam House if I am not mistaken. Really good food I reckon. I had chicken curry with rice. Then supper was at Hainan Kitchen. The main course stewed lamb was really GOOD ^__^

Morning breakfast was crazy. Tons of people from all over the world. There was this chinese family that brought along plastic bags to tapau food. I wonder they came from which kampung. =.="

Appetizer: Green salad

Main course: Stewed lamb

Dessert: Almond pudding

Pearl Milk Tea

Wednesday, November 18, 2009

A trip to the night market is never complete without getting myself something sweet. The usual would be an ice-cream or cendol. But last monday I decided to get bubble tea milk all thanks to sis that kept bugging me to walk the market. Nah! Can't blame her, blame my sweet tooth =)

My sis initially wanted to get the blueberry flavour but ended up adding ice-cream to the mix. There were so many options to choose from I had a tough time deciding what to get. Honeydew, mango or papaya and the list goes on...

Pearl milk tea, also called bubble tea or boba tea is a really popular drink that originated from Taiwan. As the growing demand for this beverage grows, many variants were created. The fruit pearl tea is most apparent in local night markets.

The 'Pearl' of the beverage is typically made of tapioca. But there are other 'add-ons' that are being used such Nata de coco and jelly. I used to really dislike the pearls cos they were sticky and I had a hard time chewing them. The pearls weren't at the right size too, they were slightly larger than the hole of the straw =.="

RM2.70 at my local night market but the price varies among different location. For more info regarding bubble tea click here

My favourite flavour would had to be... hmm... if you have been following my posts you most probably would know =)
So, which flavour suits you best?

Hunt for pan mee

Tuesday, October 27, 2009

It has been almost 3 months since I last went to eat pan mee at a stall located in Sri Serdang. Its a 15 minutes walk away from my uni. After the test at about 11, Cyee and I decide to treat ourselves a nice bowl of pan mee. When we reached there, the stalls have been removed and we remembered she said about shifting her stall to a nearby shop. We scour the entire area for the shop! took us another 15 minutes on foot! I was sweating non-stop!

We gave up hope looking for it and decided to just go Bao Long(a nearby coffee shop with lots of food). Guess what... We saw her! I was like OMFG! I want my bowl of pan please!!!!! I am dying for it! Apparently she stopped selling pan mee ever since shifting to the new place because there were others over there that sells pan mee. I was really upset... DANG!

She showed us her new menu and I noticed the asam laksa! WooHooo!!! I was happy again but seconds later she told me run out of noodles to make the laksa... Damn it! In the end I ordered Horfun with soup. Haiz... But as always, she kept us satisfied by offering us extra fishballs and meatballs. Yay!!! I was immediately happy again! tee hee! Food food! and more food! meh~

Then on the back to uni I decided to grab a bowl of cendol to cool off... yum~ Sweet stuff just makes me happy =) Then while Cyee went to print some notes I got myself a glass of fresh mango juice! Wee~ Did I mention that I really like mango? My number 1 fruit! How can anyone not agree with me that mangoes are delicious!

Back to study now! Gambatte! RAWRRR!!!

Barbecue turned Steamboat

Sunday, October 4, 2009

Owh... I am STUFFED! I mean it. Went over to my babysitter's house at Taman Desa. We were invited to a so-called barbecue gathering but when we got there we noticed no fireplace! My sisters were disappointed as they were really looking forward to barbecue. We noticed a few large pots around and immediately knew its steamboat. Well, for me its all the same as long as there is FOOD! The soup was amazing~ gosh! it was perfectly sweet. The prawns were HUGE in containers with green mussels, scallops, salmon. Lotsssss of mushroom. Yummy! They even prepared 'Hak Yee Gai' or beggar chicken??? Along with roasted duck. OMG! I ate = (mum + 2sis) X 5

AHEM... for the very 1st time. Bear took Carlsberg! 1 can only la... HAHAHA... well, can't be blamed okay! my mum was around and the uncle and auntie only allow my to wallop 1. My second time consuming beer. The 1st one was Tiger during CNY. Hmm... between the 2, Carlsberg tasted better to me. Yups... Cheers!

Mango Salsa

Wednesday, September 23, 2009

Here it is!!! Mango salsa... Well more like mixed salsa now. Hahaha...
Anyway, the main ingredients are 4 mangoes, a mug of cherry tomato, 2 baby capsicum(prefer orange color de) and 1 fresh cucumber. I made too much!!! only 8 person turned up and I made for 15 people(also depends on whether you have vegetarians around). I used 2 types of mangoes here and they both have different textures and degree of sweetness. I would recommend using more types of mango if you are making it for a large party. And do try to get sweet cheery tomatoes cos mine wasnt and it sux!!! ahahaha.... Well, anyhoo~ Let's start:

1st- dice the mangoes, halve the cherry tomatoes(according to preferences), slice the capsicums, and dice or slice the cucumber.
2nd- prepare the salsa sauce ->ingredients: blend 1 red onion, 2-3 tablespoon of pickled green chillies, 2-3 pieces of baby gherkins(use jalapeno pepper if available), 1 n half tablespoon of olive oil, 2 teaspoon of fine sugar, and lime juice squeezed from 3-4 limes(depend on size of lime).
3rd- Mix the blended ingredients into the fruits and its massage time! Give it a thorough massage and WALAAA~ we are not done =.="
4th- place it into the refrigerator and serve it chilled.(best to prepare it 1 and a half hour before serving)

what a tiring day... picnic with a bunch of friends and met Cherish. Kena halau but we still insist on staying there to picnic and the guards gave up trying to stop us LOL!
Oh, and Hoong thx for yer ais kacang! hehehe=)

That's it from Master Bear Chef...

Ingredient hunting!

Monday, September 21, 2009

Went to Sogo today to look for the infamous Jalapeno peppers for a dish I cant wait to try out. Truly DISAPPOINTED cos can't find it! Dang! Guess I will have to use some other ingredient to replace it ~.~

Will be trying out baby gherkins instead. Hope this will work out. Keeping mai fingers crossed lol... After paying for the stuff I decided to take a stroll around Sogo. Bumped into this guy which I have not seen for years!!! Chun Leong!!! I was like WTF are you doing here and where the hell have you hide yerself??? haha... he is currently working part time there as a promoter. hmm... I am surprised to see him there but more surprised that I remembered his name. But sadly... He can't remember mine... lols... nevermind that.

Really exhausted cos went for basketball this morning at 8.30 with Lun, Pat, Chee Siong, Hoong and See Toh. Then went to Sogo after taking me lunch till bout 6 only I reach home... I walked so much!!! And sweat so much!!! Nonetheless a fun day XD

I'll be posting the dish pretty soon... hehe... cant wait...

Tuesday, August 4, 2009

had this for dinner few days ago... gosh... so delicious =)
